Interior Decoration

Silvia has long had a deep interest in space and movement, ever since she was a child she meticulously dreamed of organizing, re-organizing, and decorating spaces to fulfill the fantasies in her mind. Now she's attempting to build a career in her passion for design and decoration and slowly building her portfolio. Like all her work, and how they intersect, she's greatly inspired by the ideologies of the early 19th century Romantics seeking to create beautiful spaces that cultivate color, light, and comfort.

Nouveaux

Silvia's Space

To begin her portfolio of space design, Silvia naturally worked on her own. Two separate rooms both acting as bedrooms as she transitioned from buildings and homes, both similar in design seeking the cohesion of nature and shelter, of biological and synthetic.

Room One

Room One utilizes clutter, deep colors, nature, and light to create an element of warm comfort and relaxation.

Room Two

Similar to Room One, Silvia utilizes color, light and clutter to create an interesting but comforting space for sleep and relaxation but on a smaller scale due to the smaller size of the room. Having to fit all the same objects as Room One into Room Two she compartmentalizes the empty spaces as if a puzzle and works to create to find unique placements for thrifted art due to the reduced wall space.

She began by drawing loose diagrams of the room allowing her to compartmentalize the space into a easily digestible image of which she could rearrange and redesign from the comfort and discretion of her desk.

Brooklyn Apartment

Her first job working on a space that wasn't hers was done for two friends' apartment in Brooklyn. The budget was nothing but she was given free reign to try and open up the space to create a warmer, more welcoming environment for guests as well as residents to spend more time in.

Utilizing the limited space she had to work with she wanted above all to open up the floor space to let air and movement travel more freely through.
